    SOVIET-BUILT ARMY TRUCKS TOOK PART IN A PARADE THROUGH NICOSIA YESTERDAY (THURSDAY), THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EOKA UPRISING AGAINST BRITISH RULE IN CYPRUS. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO SIGN OF SOVIET TANKS OR ANTI-AIRCRAFT MISSILES, WHICH HAD BEEN REPORTED TO BE IN THE ISLAND OR ON THE WAY.

    TWENTY-THOUSAND PEOPLE, MOSTLY GREEK CYPRIOTS, LINES THE STREETS TO CELEBRATE THE DAY TEN YEARS AGO WHEN THE EOKA RESISTANCE MOVEMENT BEGAN THE BATTLE FOR INDEPENDENCE. PRESIDENT MAKARIOS AND GENERAL GRIVAS, NOW COMMANDER OF THE CYPRIOT NATIONAL GUARD, TOOK THE SALUTE.
