President Nixon's special envoy, Dr. Henry Kissinger, is back in Paris - and today (Monday) resumed meetings with Hanoi's Chief Negotiator Le Duo Tho, in what is hopefully expected to be the last round of peace talks on Vietnam.
After two-and-a-half hours of talks at the North Vietnamese headquarters at Choisy-le-Roi, near Paris, in the morning, Dr. Kissinger and Mr. Tho surprised newsmen and observers by returning to an unscheduled meeting again in the afternoon - this time at Ste. Gemme, near Versailles.
Although no official statements were issued on the outcome of today's meetings, one U.S. spokesman in Paris is reported to have said: "If all goes well, as many as 100 of the 400-odd U.S. prisoners of war may celebrate Christmas with their families" - thus indicating the strength of the belief that this may actually be the final talks.
