Princess Anne today visited the village of Hang Hau, in a remote bay in Kowloon. Arriving in a government launch, she boarded a sampan and was rowed across the picturesque harbor, dotted with moored sampans and fishing junks. After a visit to the village (not covered) she was rowed abroad a fishing sampan to meet a Chinese family who have received assistance from the Save the Children Fund. The Princess is President of this fund. In a 10 minute conversation with the fishing family, she learned how these hardy people live and work aboard their small craft. On leaving in a naval launch, Her Royal Highness was ferried to a waiting minesweeper for the return voyage to Hong Kong.
The Princess wore a white trouser suit with white matching scarf. She was accompanied by her lady in waiting, wearing blue.
