    The father of captured American spy-pilot Francis Powers obtained a passport at the State Department Washington June 13. Afterwards he said he hoped to see his son in Moscow within sixty days.

    The father, Oliver Powers, 55, a Virginian cobbler, said he had received assurances he would be able to see him but declined to say by whom. Powers Junior, 33, was pilot of ht the U2 shot down over the USSR shortly before the ill-fated summit in Paris.

    His father wrote Mr. Khrushchev asking his help. The reply offered to aid him to see his son but added a refusal to interfere with any trial proceedings.
