    The first seminar on international communications to be held in an Arab country opened in Beirut in Lebanon on Tuesday (May 16). The four-day session was being attended by over one-hundred delegates from leading newspapers, news agencies and radio and television stations throughout the United States, Western Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East.

    The seminar was organised by the Association for International Communications, which is based in Zurich in Switzerland, and was financed by the Ford Foundation of the United States. Three similar seminars have been held in the past; the first in 1956.

    SYNOPSIS: The first seminar on international communications to be held in an Arab country opened in Beirut, capital of the Lebanon, on tuesday. Over one hundred executives and editors from leading newspapers, news agencies, and radio and television stations throughout the United States, Western Europe, the Middle East and the Far East were attending the four-day session. It was aimed at exchanging views and discussing technical issues,and increasing dialogue between Arab and non-Arab nations.

    The seminars -- there've been three others since 1956 -- are organised by the Association for International Communications, based in Zurich in Switzerland. This one was financed by the Ford Foundation of the United States.
