    TODAY (THURSDAY) REPORTS FROM MARRAKESH, MOROCCO, INDICATE A SETTLEMENT IN THE BORDER DISPUTE BETWEEN MOROCCO AND ALGERIA.THE MOROCCAN INFORMATION MINISTER, ABDEL HADI BOUTALEB, PREDICTED A "HAPPY OUTCOME" TO THE TALKS WHEN THEY RESUMED THIS MORNING.THE MINISTER SAID AN "ACCORD IN PRINCIPLE FOR A CESSASION OF HOSTILITIES" HAD ALREADY BEEN REACHED AND IT WOULD BE FINALISED DURING THE CURRENT SESSION.

    ON TUESDAY M.YAZID, WHO IS LEADING THE ALGERIAN PEACE MISSION, AND HIS TWO COLLEAGUES BEGAN TALKS WITH MOROCCAN MINISTERS ON THE BORDER DISPUTE.KING HASSAN HAS BEEN PERSONALLY INVOLVED IN THE TALKS.

    OUTSIDE THE CITY OF MARRAKESH, THOUSANDS OF BERBER WARRIORS WERE WAITING TO STAGE A MOCK BATTLE IN HONOUR OF THE FIRST SON AND HEIR OF KING HASSAN II, BORN LAST MONTH.THE KING HIMSELF WAS UNABLE TO ATTEND THE EVENT BECAUSE OF HIS TALKS WITH THE ALGERIAN ENVOYS.

    THAT EVENING THE ALGERIAN EMISSARIES RETURNED TO ALGIERS WHERE PRESIDENT BEN BELLA HAD ORDERED MOBILISATION OF THE ALGERIAN LIBERATION ARMY.THEY RETURNED TO MARRAKESH YESTERDAY.

    HOWEVER WHILE THE TALKS CONTINUE, REPORTS FROM THE BORDER SAY FIGHTING CONTINUES.IN MOROCCO TANKS ARE REPORTED MOVING TO THE BATTLE AREA WHERE BOTH SIDES CLAIM TO BE HOLDING THE DISPUTED FRONTIER POSTS OF HASSAI BEIDA AND TINJOUB.IN ALGERIA REINFORCEMENTS ARE REPORTED TO BE HEADING FOR THE FRONTIER BY LORRY.ACCORDING TO ALGERIAN SOURCES, 400 ALGERIAN SOLDIERS ARE HOLDING THE POSTS IN FACE OF ATTACK BY 4,000 MOROCCAN TROOPS.
