Background: Egypt won the gold medal for soccer at the first past week. They beat Sudan three-two at the El-Wak Stadium on Saturday (January 4). The win gave Egypt its 36th gold medal of the games.
The Egyptians were quickly into stride and lad two-nil at half time. The first goal came after a free kick near the goal-mouth and the second from a penalty.
After Egypt had scored again in the second half to make the score thee-nil, the Sudanese staged a fight back. They scored twice and looked as if they could at least draw the match. But time ran out.
The bronze medal for soccer was won by Ghana.
