Cricket....and New Zealand had a slight advantage at the end of the third day's play in the first Test against England at Basin Reserve, Wellington on Sunday (12 february). New Zealand finished the day 12 for none in their second innings, after getting England out for 215. This was 13 runs fewer than New Zealand's first inning's score of 228. For England, new skipper Geoff Boycott finished top scorer with 77, made in an incredibly long seven hours 22 minutes. On the first day Boycott won the toss, and decided to put New Zealand in. In the opening session they made steady progress, as Keith Quoinn of the New Zealand Broadcasting council reports.
