  • Description

DANIELE, A LEADING ITALIAN FASHION DESIGNER, CHOSE THE SPANISH STEPS IN ROME AS THE VENUE FOR A SHOWING OF SPRING AND SUMMER FASHIONS FOR 1969. THE FASHIONS, WHICH WENT ON SHOW FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY), HAD A SWASHBUCKLING, PIRATICAL THEME.

THE FASHION COLLECTION AS A WHOLE HAS BEEN ASSEMBLED UNDER THE NAME CORSARA, WHICH MEANS PIRATE. MANY OF THE FASHIONS HAVE BEEN CUT IN QUASI-MASCULINE STYLE, USING FEMININE FABRICS.

ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF DANIELE'S COLLECTION WAS A WHITE CULOTTE SUIT. BUT BLACK WAS EQUALLY IN PROMINENCE, IN TROUSER-SUITS, TWO-PIECE AFTERNOON WEAR AND DAY DRESSES.

THE PIRATE MOTIF WAS CARRIED THROUGH IN ACCESSORIES - A SKULL-AND-CROSSBONES DECORATED ONE OF THE BELTS IN DANIELE'S COLLECTION.

FOR EVENING WEAR DANIELE SOFTENED THE RELATIVELY HARD LINES OF THE DAY-WEAR. FLOWING, PRINTED CHIFFON WAS PUT TO STUNNING EFFECT IN ONE HIGHLY FASHIONABLE EVENING DRESS.
