Background: Citizens of Zurich now find themselves in the enviable position of being able to shop when the stores have closed for the night. A 400 chambered 'Automat' has been installed in an arcade on Zurich's main thoroughfare. A coin is inserted into a slot... the door of the selected compartment can then be opened...and another slot gives change.
A wide selection of goods ranges from food through household appliances to wearing apparel. VISNEWS filmed Dec. 16 excited citizens buying an electric light bulb... a mans shirt... and a fair maiden buying and inspecting a pair of panties.
This enormous automatic self-service slot-machine unit which rises from the ground at the press of a button after the shops have closed is claimed to be the largest of its kind in the whole of Europe.
With the sales side so wonderfully automatic what about the invention of a robot customer?
