A high ranking delegation from the Polish Council for the Protection of Monuments of Struggle and Martyrology, headed by its chairman. Mr. Janusz Wieczorek, visited the Northern Area War Graves Commission in Glasgow on Friday (October 30).
Mr. Wieczorek, who is a Minister at the Polish Prime Minister Office, is in Britain until November 3rd. The delegation arrived on Tuesday (October 27) to carry out a programme of visits to various parts of the United Kingdom for wreath laying ceremonies, presentations and the unveiling of a monument at a Polish Soldiers Cemetery.
In Glasgow the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Area Superintendent, Northern Area U.K. Region Commonwealth War Graves Commission Mr. W.H. Pettigrew.
Mr. Wieczorek presented Mr. pettigrew with a commemorative medal and citation.
After the ceremony the delegation, which also incudes Colonel Jan Mazurkiewicz-Radoslaw and Colonel Stanislas Skala, who few in the Battle of Britain, met the Lord Provost, Donald Riddle who accompanied them to Glasgow's War Memorial.
Mr. Wieczorek and his colleagues laid wreaths at the War Memorial.
