A FEATURE OF THE MEETING WAS A FIRST-TIME-IN-BRITAIN EVENT - AND INTERNATIONAL DERNY PACED OMNIUM - THREE 10-MILE RACES WITH MOTOR-POWERED CYCLES PACING THE COMPETITORS AT SPEEDS OF NEARLY 40 MILES AND HOUR. IN THE FINAL SCORE HE FINISHED THIRD - ONE POINT BEHIND LEO PROOST OF BELGIUM AND TWO POINTS BEHIND REG ARNOLD OF AUSTRALIA.

A POWERFUL SPURT AT THE FINISH OF THE 1,000 METRES INTERNATIONAL SPRINT RACE MADE SURE OF VICTORY FOR RON BAENSCH AND THE "CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS" TITLE HE HAD WON IN THE SAME RACE LAST YEAR. IN A FINAL AGAINST CHRIS CHURCH OF BRITAIN AND GERALD KOEL OF HOLLAND, THE AUSTRALIAN WAS ALMOST CAUGHT NAPPING BY A SURPRISE BURST FROM CHURCH WITH 300 METRES TO GO.
