Background: A group of women peace marchers numbering almost 2000 moved through Washington, D.C., 7 May 1963 demanding congressional support for a nuclear test ban treaty with Russia. The women, most of them from New York City, churned around the Capitol trying to find various congressmen who apparently found it the better part of valour to be discreetly missing. The group calls itself the WOMEN STRIKE FOR PEACE.
