Background: Another police station has been destroyed by explosive in Cyprus. At II am on Friday morning (June 8), 30 armed men attacked the police station in Vatili village, half-way between Nicosia and Famagusts. They disarmed the policemen and forced them out of the station.
Dynamite was placed in the building and it was badly damaged in the explosion.
Some of the dynamite did not explode and the building was in such a dangerous conditions, that the police had to complete the demolition work, and blow up their own police station.
All the cars at the police station were burnt, and some documents were also destroyed.
In April there was a series of attacks on police stations in Cyprus. Then, they were blamed on supporters of General George Grivas, and the movement for ENOSIS, union with Greece.
