    GERMANY'S POSTMASTER-GENERAL, HERR RICHARD STUCKLEN, OPENED THE COUNTRY'S FIRST RADIO RECEIVING STATION AT RAISTING FOR THE RECEPTION OF SIGNALS FROM THE UNITED STATES VIA THE SATELLITE "TELSTAR".

    ARRIVING IN AN OFFICIAL CAR BEARING THE OFFICIAL STANDARD, HERR STUCKLEN WAS TAKEN INTO THE CONTROL ROOM WHICH IS THE NERVE-CENTRE ;OF THE STATION. THERE, VIA "TELSTAR", HE SPOKE TO THE AMERICAN POSTMASTER, MR. WEBB. THE STATION WILL BE USED FOR THE RECEPTION OF TRUNK TELEPHONE CALLS, TELEPRINTER MESSAGES, AND COMMERCIAL DATA.

    HERR STUCKLEN THEN WENT ON A TOUR OF THE STATION, WITH ITS SAUCER-CHAPE AERIAL DOMINATING THE LANDSCAPE. AFTERWARDS, HE TOURED A NEARBY STATION, THE BALLOON-SHAPED RADOME TO BE USED FOR SIMILAR PURPOSES, BOUGHT FROM THE AMERICANS AT A COST OF 5 MILLION DEUTSCHE MARKS.
