    THE COLUMBIA BROADCASTING SYSTEM OF NEW YORK WON THE "GOLDEN ROSE" AWARD FOR A TELEVISION LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT SHOW AT THE TELEVISION FESTIVAL AT MONTREUX LAST FRIDAY, IN COMPETITION WITH 26 OTHER NETWORKS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.

    THE WINNING ENTRY WAS "JUNGLE AND CAROL AT THE CARNEGEE HALL," -- A SHOW FEATURING JULIE ANDREWS AND CAROL BURNETT.

    THE SECOND PRIZE, THE SILVER ROSE", WENT THE CZECHOSLOVAKIA FOR AN INGENIOUS COMICAL FANTASY CALLED "SILENCE, SILENCE, SILENCE." THE THIRD PRIZE "BRONZE ROSE" WENT TO THE FRENCH SERVICE OF BELGIAN TELEVISION FOR A PROGRAMME CALLED "SUITE EN SIXTEEN".

    THE RESULT CAME AS A SURPRISE TO THE II NATION PRESS JURY, WHO VOTE THEIR OWN UNOFFICIAL AWARDS CARRYING NO PRIZE. THEY HAD VOTED FOR THE BRITISH BROADCASTING COMPANY'S ENTRY, "IT'S A SQUARE WORLD". THE SHOW, FEATURING BRITISH COMEDIAN MICHAEL BENTINE, RECEIVED HONOURABLE MENTION, BUT FAILED TO WIN AN AWARD.
