ON THE COMMON MARKET, THE FRENCH PRESIDENT SAID THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY MIGHT BE ENLARGED ONE DAY WHEN POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS WERE POLITICALLY AND ECONOMICALLY FIT TO ENTER.

    PRESIDENT DE GAULLE SAID THAT PEACE WAS FRANCE'S PRIMARY AIM.

    REFERRING TO VIETNAM AND THE MIDDLE EAST, HE SAID EVENTS HAD FULLY JUSTIFIED THE ADVICE FRANCE AND GIVEN TO "TWO STATES" - INTERPRETED AS A REFERENCE TO AMERICA AND ISRAEL.

    IN THE FIVE-MINUTE BROADCAST, THE PRESIDENT LOOKED FORWARD TO 1968 WITH CONFIDENCE AND PRONOUNCED THE OUTLOOK FAVOURABLE FOR HIS DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN POLICIES.
