The success of African boxers in the Commonwealth Games, currently being held in Edinburgh, Scotland, continued with the victory of Kenyan lightweight, Mbogwa on Saturday. (July 18).

The Kenyan, who faced his Jamaican opponent at the Murrayfield Ice Stadium had a convincing points victory over West.

Mbogwa pressed his opponent hard from the first bell, throwing a series of punches with both hands to face and body. The Jamaican replied with some good left hands to the body.

Through the three rounds the bout proved one of good entertainment and a high standard of boxing ability from both men.

But the Judges had no hesitation in awarding the win to a delighted Mbogwa.
