    THE BRITISH "GREAT TRAIN ROBBER" CHARLES WILSON - ARRESTED IN A SMALL QUEBEC TOWN YESTERDAY (THURSDAY) - WILL BE DEPORTED TO BRITAIN ON SUNDAY (JANUARY 28). WILSON WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BACK TO LONDON BY DETECTIVE CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT THOMAS BUTLER, HEAD OF SCOTLAND YARD'S FLYING SQUAD. SUPERINTENDENT BUTLER. TOGETHER WITH CANADIAN MOUNTIES, ARRESTED WILSON IN RIGAUD, NEAR MONTREAL.

    WILSON, MARRIED WITH THREE CHILDREN, WAS SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR HIS PART IN BRITAIN'S "GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY" IN 1963. IN WHICH GBP2,600,000 STERLING WAS STOLEN. HE SERVED ONLY FOUR MONTHS OF HIS SENTENCE BEFORE HE ESCAPED FROM A BIRMINGHAM GAOL IN AUGUST, 1964.

    WILSON WAS HELPED TO ESCAPE BY A GANG WHO BROKE INTO THE BUILDING, ATTACKED A WARDER, AND DROVE THE ESCAPEE TO SAFETY.

    POLICE SAY THAT WILSON AND HIS FAMILY HAVE BEEN LIVING AT THEIR LUXURIOUS RIGAUD HOME FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. HE WAS ARRESTED AT DAWN YESTERDAY BY THE POLICE AND CHARGED WITH ENTERING CANADA ILLEGALLY UNDER THE ASSUMED NAME. SUPERINTENDENT BUTLER, WHO HAS SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRACKING DOWN THE "GREAT TRAIN ROBBERS" STILL AT LARGE, ARRIVED IN CANADA A FEW DAYS AGO TO CLOSE THE NET ON WILSON. ONLY THE BORDER WHO ESCAPED FROM GAOL REMAINS FREE. POLICE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR ONE SUSPECT WHO HAS NEVER CAUGHT WITH THE OTHER ROBBERS.
