    THE PARADE PAYS HONOUR TO GERMAN GENERAL FRIEDRICH WILHELM VON STEUBEN WHO HELPED AMERICAN COLONISTS IN THEIR WAR FOR INDEPENDENCE FROM GREAT BRITAIN...IT WAS A SPECTACULAR OCCASION THIS YEAR WITH THIRTY-FIVE FLOATS AND SIXTY-FIVE MARCHING BANDS TAKING PART. THOUSANDS OF NEW YORKERS LINED THE STREETS TO WATCH THE PROCESSION GO BY.
