Rodeo time at Kyabram, in Northern Victoria, Australia.....some of Australia's leading "rough riders" gathered for contests involving over four hundred horses and cattle.
First on the programme was a display of buck jumping. There were plenty of spills before someone managed to sit his horse for the required ten seconds, and thus win the event.
Steer riding providing a different challenge for the riders, and new excitement for the spectators. Then came "bulldogging".....the cowboy has to force the calf to the ground to win. But more often than not the calf takes the honours. The cowboy waits until the calf is off balance before leaving his horse.....then, man pits his strength against beast.
From beginning to end, it was a day of thrills and spills at the spectacular, exuberant Kyabram Rodeo.
