    VICE-PRESIDENT CHITANDIKA KAMANGA OF ZAMBIA, WHO IS VISITING INDIA, TOURED A VILLAGE NEAR NEW DELHI YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY) TO SEE SOME OF THE CHANGES TAKING PLACE IN INDIAN RURAL LIFE. VILLAGERS GARLANDED HIM WITH FLOWERS AND SCHOOL-CHILDREN PRESENTED A SPECIAL PHYSICAL TRAINING DISPLAY.

    MR. KAMANGA VISITED THE BASANTPUR-SAINTHLI VILLAGE, 22 MILES NORTH WEST OF NEW DELHI. THE VILLAGE HAS A POPULATION OF ABOUT 1,800 AND HAS ABOUT 600 OF ITS 700 CULTIVATED ACRES UNDER IRRIGATION. MR. KAMANGA SAW HOW THE VILLAGERS HAVE IMPROVED THEIR AGRICULTURAL METHODS AND ADOPTED NEW TECHNIQUES.

    THE ZAMBIAN VISITOR WATCHED VARIOUS VILLAGE ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WORK AT A POULTRY FARM, AND A VILLAGE POTTER AT WORK. BASANTPUR-SAINTHLI IS PART OF THE MURADNAGAR BLOCK OF VILLAGES WHICH CATERS FOR A POPULATION OF MORE THAN 91,000. AFTER BEING GREETED BY VILLAGE ELDERS, MR. KAMANGA INSPECTED A GUARD OF HONOUR MADE UP OF VILLAGE CADETS OF THE NATIONAL CADET CORPS. SCHOOL CHILDREN SHOUTED SLOGANS OF ZAMBIAN-INDIAN FRIENDSHIP AND PRESENTED A PHYSICAL TRAINING DISPLAY.
