  • Description

The third bomb explosion in the heart of Paris in three days wrecked offices of a Tunisian weekly newspaper on June 19, injuring six people, three of them seriously. It took 200 firemen an hour to extinguish flames ignited by a charge of plastic explosive left on the fourth floor outside two small rooms occupied by the Paris staff of the weekly "Afrique Action" in the Rue St. Honore.

While debris was being cleared and tourists in a self-service restaurant nearby were treated for shock, the Paris manager of "Afrique Action", M. Robert Baratt, declared that all newspapers seeking to promote understanding between France and the Algerian "provisional Government" were in danger from right-wing extremists. The French Government should take measures to protect newspaper offices, he added.

Meanwhile in Algeria, extremists on both sides, suing plastic bombs and hand grenades, were responsible for incidents in a number of towns. And in France, several Muslims were murdered during the night of June 18 in clashes between rival gangs of Algerian terrorists.
