Background: Tuesday (June 22) was the traditional Ladies Day at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, and thousand of fans flocked to see the top women tennis platers in the world in action. Among them Britain's Number Five seed,Miss Virginia who beat the United States fifth-ranking woman player, Patti Hogan.
The first prolonged sunshine of a rain-ruined month not only highlighted the fashions both on and off the court, but also brought out the fans -- 24 thousand in all.
Miss Wade justified her seeding and also achieved in partly conquering her notorious Wimbledon jinx by beating Miss Hogan 7-5, 6-2. It took her just an hour and a quarter to dispose of the American girl, one of the four players to defeat the Australian champion, Margaret Court last year.
