    IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT ALGERIAN WOMEN HAD TAKEN PART IN A DEMONSTRATION FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY AND THE 10,000 MARCHERS WALKED FROM MAY 1ST SQUARE TO THE CINEMA WHERE PRESIDENT BEN BELLA ADDRESSED THOSE WHO MANAGED TO GET IN.ALL ALONG THE ROUTE THE WOMEN -- MANY STILL WEARING THE AIK AND THE TRADITIONAL VEIL -- SHOUTED FOR EMANCIPATION, WORLD PEACE AND SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE STILL IN SLAVERY.THEY NAMED PORTUGUESE ANGOLA AS A PLACE OF 'SLAVERY'.

    PRESIDENT BEN BELLA TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS NO STATE SECRET -- "THAT AT THIS VERY MOMENT OUR PLANES ARE FLYING TOWARDS THE CONGO WITH ARMS".HE ALSO INDICATED ALGERIA'S ACTIVE SUPPORT TO THOSE WHOM HE TERMED "OUR DEMOCRATIC BROTHERS OF PORTUGAL WHO ARE FIGHTING THE SINISTER SALAZAR" AND TO THE ARABS OF PALESTINE.
