    LIBERIA HAS BEEN CELEBRATING 122 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE WITH PARADES, SPEECHES AND TRADITIONAL DANCING THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. HIGHLIGHT OF THE CELEBRATIONS, ON SATURDAY (26 JULY 69), WAS A BIG MILITARY PARADE IN THE COUNTRY'S CAPITAL OF MONROVIA.

    THOUSANDS OF CITIZENS AND FOREIGN GUESTS WATCHED THE MILITARY PARADE AT THE BARCLAY TRAINING CENTRE, IN MONROVIA.

    THE SECRETARY OF STATE, MR J. RUDOLPH GRIMES, ON BEHALF OF PRESIDENT TUBMAN, INSPECTED THE GUARD OF HONOUR MOUNTED BY ENLISTED OFFICERS OF THE LIBERIAN ARMED FORCES.

    ALSO ON THE REVIEWING DAIS WERE THE DEFENCE SECRETARY MR JONATHON GOODRIDGE, THE ARMY CHIEF OF STAFF, LIEUTENANT-GENERAL GEORGE T. WASHINGTON AND OTHER HIGH RANKING MILITARY OFFICERS.

    THE MILITARY PARADE, WHICH INCLUDED MOTORISED UNITS OF THE ARMED FORCES, WAS FOLLOWED BY A PROCESSION OF GAILY DECORATED FLOATS AND A DISPLAY OF ACROBATICS AND CALISTHENICS.
