SYNOPSIS: A party of nine African ambassadors to the United Nations were welcomed by Argentina's president-elect Hector Campora in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. The ambassadors had been in Argentina for a ten-day official visit, and their meeting with the president-elect in his office was at their own request.

The party of ambassadors was officially welcomed by President-elect Campora and a group of his advisers. Before their meeting at the Government offices, the nine men had spent some time in talks with President Alejandro Lanusse. They had also held a meeting with Argentina's Foreign Minister, Brigadier Loughlin, and before they left, they were given a tour of the country.

The nine African ambassadors had been invited to Argentina by its Government. During the visit, the men were shows holiday resorts, industrial areas, and some of the country's wine-producing regions. All nine African countries represented by the ambassadors keep contacts with Argentina, but none have permanent ambassadorial representation.

Some newspapers in Buenos Aires have said that Argentina wants to improve relations with African countries. They say that Argentina hopes to get support from the African countries over the Falkland Islands, which Argentina is claiming from Britain. After their top level meeting, the African ambassadors said that their visit had gone well...that their talks with the Government had produced good results.
