SYNOPSIS: Fresh fighting broke out during the weekend around Phnom Penh, capital of the Khmer Republic. In this battle, at Phnom Prasat, 11 miles north west of the capital, the news cameraman found himself pinned down by a communist rifle and machine-gun attack directed at the patrol he was with.

Later the Government forces retreated, taking at least one prisoner. Some Government troops were wounded in the brief exchange of fire. In other battles in a wide area around the capital during the weekend, about 30 communists were reported killed. Over 50 Khmer troops were killed or wounded. The battles were part of a long, drawn-out campaign by both sides to control the access roads to the capital, currently in Government hands.
