On Monday M. Houroumtallah sent a message to United Nations Secretary General Kurt Waldheim saying that a delegation from the new party would be arriving in New York and he hoped they would be able to address the United Nations General Assembly.

The Spanish Saharan group met Mauritania's President Moktar Ould Daddah on Saturday (15 November). The day before at a special meeting in the Spanish capital, Madrid, Spain. Morocco and Mauritania had agreed to set up a tripartite temporary administration in the phosphate rich Spanish Sahara.

The future of the territory has been in the news since Morocco's king Hassan organised a peace march of 350,000 Moroccans into the country to 'reunite' it with Morocco.
