SYNOPSIS: Kenya played Uganda in Nairobi, Kenya, on Sunday to decide who was going to go forward into the third round of the African Nations Soccer Cup. Uganda, in the light shirts attacking from the right, played strongly -- but it was a tight game with very few goal-scoring chances. The first went to Kenya.

In the second half, which began with the score at one-all, Uganda gained their second goal.

Uganda managed to retain their lead to win the game, but only after hard football and some displays of temper. Each side had a player sent off -- once, after a Kenyan player struck the Ugandan captain.

But that wasn't the end of it. After the final whistle, the crowds invaded the pitch. Fights broke out; police were stoned; chairs were used in several battles; and riot police eventually used teargas to disperse the mobs. There were no reports of arrests or serious injury.
