    BAD WEATHER CAUSED THE CANCELLATION OF THE LAST DAY'S JUMPING YESTERDAY (SATURDAY, 6 AUGUST) IN THE WORLD PARACHUTING CHAMPIONSHIPS AT LEIPZIG, EAST GERMANY. THE FINAL DAY WAS DEVOTED TO THE PRESENTATION OF AWARDS TO THE VARIOUS GROUPS.

    SOVIET PARACHUTISTS WON FIVE OF THE SIX WORLD TITLES. THE MEN'S INDIVIDUAL TARGET JUMPING WAS WON BY GUNTHER GERHARDT OF EAST GERMANY. THE FIRST FIVE PLACES IN THE OVERALL MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIPS AND IN THE FIGURE JUMPING WERE OCCUPIED BY SOVIET PARACHUTISTS. THE HIGHEST-PLACED WESTERN ENTRANT WAS HENRY OF CANADA, WHO CAME NINTH IN THE OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP AND TENTH IN THE FIGURE JUMPING. AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAD DOMINATED THE CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS DID NOT COMPETE IN EAST GERMANY.
