  • Description

American rock-and-roll singer Elvis Presley held a press conference March 1, at Ray Barracks, Friedberg, near Frankfurt, before leaving the 3rd United States Armoured Division where he has spent the last 18 months of his National Service training in West Germany.
Answering questions by international pressmen, 25-year-old Presley talked about his plans for returning to the world of Show Business. He said (SOF): Special military police guarded the gates of the barracks to ensure that no teen-age girls forced their way in. Despite all precautions several girls managed go slip through and mobbed the singer for his autograph.
Army officials have arranged for Presley to fly back to the United States, instead of taking the normal troop ship. This to prevent any of his fans staging similar scenes of the kind that greeted him when he first arrived in West Germany.
