    FRENCH PRIME MINISTER GEORGES POMPIDOU LAST NIGHT WENT BEFORE TELEVISION CAMERAS IN PARIS AND ACCUSED STUDENTS OF "SPREADING DISORDER WITH THE AWOWED PURPOSE OF DESTROYING THE NATION AND THE VERY FOUNDATION OF OUR FREE SOCIETY". TODAY PARIS STUDENTS AND WORKERS HAVE BEEN ORGANISING FRESH PROTESTS, INCLUDING A PLANNED MARCH ON THE RENAULT AUTOMOBILE FACTORY AT BILLANCOURT. EARLIER THEY CALLED OFF A MARCH ON THE STATE RADIO BUILDING, AFTER BEING TOLD BY THE GOVERNMENT THAT DISRUPTION OF PUBLIC ORDER WOULD NOT BE TOLERATED.

    M. POMPIDOU'S STATEMENT LAST NIGHT BEGAN WITH A WARNING AND CLOSED WITH AN APPEAL. "THE GOVERNMENT MUST DEFEND THE REPUBLIC", HE SAID. "IT WILL DEFEND IT... THE GOVERNMENT WILL DO ITS DUTY. IT ASKS YOU TO HELP".
