Background: The nine members of the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.) have been taken on a guided tour of the competition sites for the Montreal Olympics to allay fears that the Games might not begin on time.

The Committee was led by the President of the I.O.C., Lord Killanin, who said after the inspection that he was confident that the Games would open next July as scheduled.

The nine-member Committee spent the tour listening to confident building and sports experts explaining the work time-tables which have faced daunting financial, labour and supply problems.

The on-site inspection was to prepare the I.O.C. committee for detailed discussions with the Mayor of Montreal, Jean Drapeau. M. Drapeau is responsible for the building programme for the Olympics. Also present at the talks was the Games Commissioner, Roger rousseau.

After the tour, Lord Killanin told newsmen that although some constructions were slightly behind schedule the "target date for the opening of the Games remains exactly the same."
