  • Description

CLAIMED BY ITS INHABITANTS TO HAVE THE "BIGGEST AND BEST", THE AMERICAN STATE OF TEXAS WAS AFFECTED BY FLOODING IN MANY PARTS AFTER A VERY BIG CLOUD BURST OVER THE AREA AROUND FORT WORTH. HELICOPTERS AND BOATS WERE FILMED IN RESCUE OPERATIONS YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) AFTER MORE THAN SIX INCHES OF RAIN HAD CAUSED THE EVACUATION OF 200 HOMES IN AND AROUND THE CITY.

TWO MEN WERE SWEPT AWAY AND DROWNED, AND FIVE PERSONS WERE KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENTS. A FAMILY OF THREE DIED IN ONE ACCIDENT.

SITUATED INLAND, ALONGSIDE THE TRINITY ROVER, FORT WORTH LOOKED VERY MUCH AS IF IT WERE ABOUT TO BE SWALLOWED UP BY THE SEA AS FLOOD WATERS SWEPT OVER THE AIRPORT, MAROONED ROAD TRAFFIC, AND FORCED PEOPLE INTO THE TREE-TOPS.
