  • Description

A Fun Fair for the welfare of Malayan Armed Forces families, was recently hold at the Malayan capital, Kuala Lumpur.

Malaya became an independent country last year and her young army is now undergoing expansion with aid -both financial as well as technical - from Britain. Commonwealth countries like Australia are also helping by training potential officers.

The Fun Fair, the first of its kind in Malaya, was organised by British and Malayan army wives, and was very successful.

Essentially, it was like any other fun fair - lot fun and games for the children, lucky dips, contributions like needle work and local products for sale.

A baby show, part of the fun fair, created considerable interest. Thirty eight babies were contesting for the title, and Malaya's Director of Medical Services Dr. Mohammad Din had a tough time examining them before the final selection.

Six month-old Azzindin was voted the "bonniest" baby of the lot and the proud mother was the immediate object of newsmen's interest.
