In spain, police continue their search for kidnapped parliamentarian Francisco Javier Ruperez Rubio. Senor Ruperez, the Secretary for International Relations of the Ruling Union of the Democratic Centre (UCD) was kidnapped on the eleventh of November. The Basque Separatist group, ETA have claimed responsibility and are making various demands from the Spanish government for release.

The Spanish government has refused to negotiate with the ETA kidnappers. The group's political wing have demanded amnesty for ETA prisoners, the withdrawal of Spanish National Security forces from the troubled Basque regions and the integration of the Province of Navarre into a fully autonomous Basque country, in return for the release of Senor Ruperez.
