Yugoslavian Vice-President Mr. Rato Dugonjic arrived at Nouakshott, capital of Mauritania, on Tuesday (3rd July), to start a two day visit.
He was greeted by foreign Minister Hamdi Ould Mouknass.
In the evening President Mokhtar Ould Daddah gave a dinner in Mr. Dugonjic's honour. President Daddah recently took Mauritania, a former French colony, out of the Franc Zone and said that relations with France were unsatisfactory.
It has been reported that the new Mauritanian currency - the Ouguiya - was printed and minted in Yugoslavia.
SYNOPSIS: The Mauritanian Foreign Minister, Hamid Ould Mouknass, was at Nouakchott Airport on Wednesday to greet the Yugoslav Vice-President, Mr. Rato Dugonjic. Mr. Dugonjic was starting a two-day official visit. He had previously been in Morocco, to discuss the role of non-aligned nations in world politics.
He spoke to newsmen in the State-Room and later had talks with President Ould Daddah. President Daddah recently said his country's relations with France were unsatisfactory and he withdrew Mauritania from the Franc Zone. The new currency - the Ouguiya - went in circulation in June the thirtieth. It was reportedly printed and minted in Yugoslavia.
