  • Description

The Duke of Edinburgh on a four-day visit to the Bahamas, was filmed Apl 25 at a regatta in George Town, Exuma Island and the following day (Apl 26) at a church service in Nassau.

It was the last stage of his 36,000 mile tour of the Far East and Pacific.

Flying an R.A.F. Heron provided by the British Embassy, Washington, Prince Philip flew to George Town to watch native workboat and dinghy races. A strong wind and rough sea added excitement to the competitions.

Later that day the Prince flew back to Nassau. On Apl 26 he walked through a big crowd to and from Christ Church Cathedral to read the second lesson at the service.

On Apl 28 the Duke flew from Nassau --homeward bound. The airliner bringing him to London is due Apl 30 -just 100 days after his departure for Delhi at the start of the world tour. During this time he has seen India, Pakistan, Singapore, Sarawak, North Borneo, Hong Kong, the Gilbet and Ellice Islands, Christmas Island and Panama.

In June the Prince will be on his travels again-this time with the Queen to Canada for the St. Lawrence Seaway opening. After a visit to the Shetland and Orkney Islands the Royal couple are to fly to Ghana.
