Background: BRIGADE COMMANDER COLONEL A.K. KATTAH, COMMANDER OF THE FIRST INFANTRY BRIGADE GROUP, TOOK THE SALUTE AT THE ANNUAL ADMINISTRATIVE INSPECTION PARADE OF THE SECOND BATTALION OF THE GHANA ARMY AT ARAFKAN BARRACKS IN ACCRA RECENTLY. COL. KATTAH CONGRATULATED THE SOLDIERS ON THEIR HIGH STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE AND PRESENTED A LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL TO WARRANT OFFICER C. NUTSUGAH OF THE BATTALION. A DISTINGUISHED VISITOR AT THE PARADE WAS BRIGADIER AFRIFA, THE GHANAIAN COMMISSIONER FOR FINANCE AND A MEMBER OF THE RULING NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL.

COLONEL KATTAH TOOK THE SALUTE AS THE SOLDIERS MARCHED PAST, FIRST IN SLOW TIME, THEN IN QUICK TIME. THE PARADE COMMANDER WAS MAJOR BAIDOO.

THE REGIMENTAL COLOURS -- THE BATTALION'S FLAG -- SHOWS THE CAMPAIGNS IN WHICH THE BATTALION HAS TAKEN PART. THE CAMPAIGNS INCLUDE THE CONGO, ARAKAN IN BURMA, AND UADARA IN EAST AFRICA. BRIGADIER AFRIFA SALUTED AS THE REGIMENTAL COLOURS WERE PARADED.

ADDRESSING THE PARADE, THE COLONEL SAID THE INSPECTION OFFERED AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ASSESSING WHAT THE SOLDIERS HAD ACHIEVED DURING THE PAST YEAR, AND TO SUGGEST WAYS OF IMPROVING THEIR STANDARDS. HE PRAISED THE HIGH STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE, BUT SAID MORE COULD BE DONE TO MAKE THE BATTALION ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD.
