  • Description

President Kennedy's accused assassin...Lee Harvey Oswald... was buried Monday afternoon (25 November) in a plain, cloth-covered wood coffin.

The Reverend Louis Saunders...executive secretary of the Forth Worth Council of Churches...presided at the brief graveside services. "We are not here to judge," Rev. Saunders said. "We are here to lay him away before an understanding God."
Oswald's Russian-born widow...Marina..his mother...Mrs. Marguerite Oswald...his brother...Robert...and his two small children were at the graveside. Oswald's mother held Audrey Marina Rachael, who was born a month ago. Mrs. Marina Oswald held her 22-month-old daughter June Lee.

Oswald were buried in an isolated section of Rose Hill cemetery near Fort Worth despite the protests of some of the owners of plots there. His family was brought to the cemetery by Secret Service men who also took them away immediately after the service. They are being held in protective custody.
