FORD'S FIRST MOTOR VEHICLE WAS THE "QUADRICYCLE". IT MADE ITS FIRST TRIAL RUN IN JUNE, 1896. WITH FORD'S MECHANICAL GENIUS AND HIS ADVANCED IDEAS ON AUTOMATION, FROM THIS CRUDE CAR CAME THE MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR FORD CAR COMPANY. THE MOST FAMOUS FORD OF ALL -- THE MODEL T -- WAS PRODUCED WITHOUT RADICAL CHANGE FROM 1908 TILL 1927. IN ALL 15 MILLION MODELS WERE SOLD AND IT REMAINS THE MOST POPULAR CAR OF ALL TIME.

TO CELEBRATE THE CENTENARY OF HENRY FORD, 20 APPRENTICES FROM FORD OF BRITAIN'S TRAINING DEPARTMENT HAVE BUILT A REPLICA OF THE FIRST FORD "QUADRICYCLE."
TODAY, (MONDAY) IT MADE ITS FIRST RUN ON A RACING TRACK IN LONDON, DRIVEN BY WORLD CHAMPION DRIVER, GRAHAM HILL. IT IS AN EXACT COPY OF THE ORIGINAL WITH A 4 HORSEPOWER TWO-CYLINDER ENGINE, AND PNEUMATIC TYRED BICYCLE WHEELS. IT CHUGGED AROUND THE TRACK AT ITS MAXIMUM SPEED OF 20 M.P.H. (32 K.P.H.). FORD SOLD HIS FIRST CAR FOR GBP40. THE REPLICA HAS COST GBP1,500 TO BUILD. ALTHOUGH IT WILL NEVER BE SEEN ON THE ROAD, SINCE LIKE THE ORIGINAL IT HAS NO BRAKES, JUST FOR AN HOUR TODAY IT BROUGHT HISTORY TO LIFE.
