    United States Secretary of State Mr William Rogers predicted on Saturday (September 25) that the U.S. would win its struggle to prevent the expulsion of Taiwan from the U.N. Speaking at a press conference after meetings with Secretary General U Thant and General Assembly President Adam Malik, Mr. Rogers referred to the previous day's vote in the Assembly to keep the U.S.-backed China resolution on the agenda on which the vote was so narrow that some observers interpreted it as defeat for the U.S. This film, which covers the press conference and Mr Rogers' meeting with U Thant and Halik, also has Mr. Rogers' comment on U.S. Government involvement in the Middle East.

    SYNOPSIS: (SILENT). The United Nations, Saturday... and top-level meetings following the previous day's General Assembly vote to Keep the United States-backed China resolution on the agenda. One meeting was held between U.S. Secretary of State Mr William Rogers, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mr George Bush, and U.N. Secretary-General U Thant, at which they discusses the controversial vote. For although the resolution was kept on the agenda, some observers now interpret the narrowness of the vote - 65-47 -- and the abstentions involved, as a defeat for the U.S.

    Later, Mr Rogers and Mr Bush held similar meeting with the newly-alleged General Assembly President, Indonesian Foreign Minister Mr Adam Malik. But at a press conference following his two meetings, Mr Rogers denied that the vote was a defeat for U.S. policy, which wants to prevent the expulsion of Taiwan from the U.N., whilst admitting the People's Republic of China....
    On U.S. involvement in the Middle East, Rogers was cautious....
