    AFTER POSING FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS ON THE 38TH FLOOR, MR. MACMILLAN AND U THANT REVIEWED PROBLEMS FACING THE WORLD ORGANIZATION. THESE RANGED FROM STRENGTHENING THE 'PEACE-KEEPING' MACHINERY OF THE UN TO THE FINANCING OF UN OPERATIONS IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE CONGO. MR. MACMILLAN WAS BELIEVED TO HAVE ASSURED U THANT OF BRITAIN'S SUPPORT FOR THE UNITED NATIONS.

    THE BRITISH PREMIER WAS TO FLY TO WASHINGTON THE NEXT DAY TO STAY WITH THE BRITISH AMBASSADOR. THE SAME EVENING HE WAS TO DINE WITH THE WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS ASSOCIATION. PRESIDENT KENNEDY WOULD ALSO BE PRESENT. TALKS WITH THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT WILL BEGIN APRIL 28 AT THE WHITE HOUSE AND CONTINUE THE NEXT DAY AT THE PRESIDENT'S COUNTRY HOUSE IN VIRGINIA. FROM WASHINGTON HE WILL FLY TO OTTAWA FOR TWO DAYS OF TALKS WITH PRIME MINISTER DIEFENBAKER BEFORE RETURNING TO LONDON.
