  • Description

A Federal Marshall, shot by militant Indians at the South Dakots settlement of Wounded Knee, is seriously ill at a hospital in Denver.

Hundreds of rounds are fired daily at the siege area, but until now only two minor injuries have been reported.

The last food caravan entered Wounded Knee on March 24th, but it's known that the Indians slip out at night to collect more food and ammunition. They've also planted dynamite charges around the area.

But just outside the Federal road block, local reservation Indians have set up their own blocks...they say they've had enough of the indians at Wounded Knee and they're either going to really starve them out or force the Federal Government to go in and do the job.

SYNOPSIS: At Wounded Knee is South Dakota militant Indians are still holding Federal forces at bay in their fight for a new deal for American Indians. But the situation has been made more tense with the serious wounding of a Federal marshall.

The last official food caravan was allowed into Wounded Knee several days ago, but Federal officials admit that the Indians can slip out at night to bring in unlimited supplies of food and ammunition.

The militants are also planting dynamite round the area... and Federal authorities say the Indians have fired over ten thousand rounds of ammunition.

However, the Indians have asked for a new negotiating session with Federal officials and arranged to meet at a point halfway between the lines. But beyond the Federal road block local Indians are manning a road block of their own. They say the militants are outsiders and they are either going to starve them out, or force the Federal Government to go in and get them.
