    THOMPSON FROM AUSTRALIA, WAS RIDING A NORTON. ANOTHER GERMAN COMPETITOR WAS KOLLE ON B.M.W. ALSO ON A B.M.W., THE WELL-KNOWN SWISS RIDER, CAMATHIAS WHO WAS NOT PLACE TODAY. THE REIGNING WORLD CHAMPION MAX DEUBEL, OF GERMANY, WAS PLACE FOURTH IN THE BIG RACE OF THE DAY - THE ???500 "SIDE CAR RACE OF THE YEAR."
    THE BIG RACE OF THE DAY WAS FOR MOTOR CYCLES AND SIDE CARS WITH UP TO 1,000 c.c. ENGINES. IT WAS RACED OVER 20 LAPS OF THE 1.35 MILE (2.1 KILOMETRES) CIRCUIT, MADE PARTICULARLY DIFFICULT THIS YEAR WITH RAIN ON THE TRACK.

    STRUB OF SWITZERLAND AND KOLLE OF GERMANY WERE SOME OF THE OVERSEAS CHALLENGE. THEY WERE BOTH UNPLACED. IT WAS NO. 7, HARRIS OF ENGLAND, WHO WON FROM SWITZERLAND'S SCHEIDEGGER, WITH AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 72.9 m.p.h. (117.2 KILOMETRES)
    HARRIS LED FROM THE SEVENTH LAP AND ALSO COMPLETED THE FASTEST LAP WITH A TIME OF 74.5 m.p.h. (119.9 KILOMETRES).

    ANOTHER ENGLISHMAN, FREEMAN, WAS PLACED THIRD, WITH DEUBEL FOURTH.
