A new beach resort for Australian and New Zealand soldiers fighting in Phuoc Tuy Province in S. Vietnam was opened on Sunday (5 November) at Vung Tau, south-east of Saigon.
The centre was officially opened by Mr. Border, Australia's ambassador in S. Vietnam. Later the commander of the Australian forces, Major General D. Vincent, introduced Mr. Border to some of the officers and men who'll be using the new centre, with its recreation rooms and bars.
It's been named the Peter Badcoe Club in honour of the Australian Major who was recently posthumously awarded the Victories Cross for personal courage and leadership.
