SYNOPSIS: The President of Rhodesia's African National Congress, Bishop Muzorewa, was in Lagos during the weekend talks with the Nigerian head of state, General Yakubu Gowon. Bishop Muzorewa called at Dodan barracks on his way home from Liberia's independence anniversary celebrations.

Official sources said that talks with General Gowon, the Bishop declared that Zimbabwe--or Rhodesian--Africans, were merely concerned with establishing a country based on democratic principles. They were not fighting to replace what he called white racism with black racism. Bishop Muzorewa expressed appreciation for support he had received from within and outside Africa.

General Gowon, in turn, said he had been closely following the situation in Rhodesia, and that Nigeria would maintain its support for its people. He called on the people of Zimbabwe to close ranks and intensify their struggle to restore human dignity in their country.
