The Vice-President on the World Bank, Dr. Mohammed Shoib, last night made a brief stop-over in Accra. Dr. Shoib, accompanied by his wife, was on his way to Kharto???, Sudan from Abidjan in the Ivory Coast. Dr. Shoib was met at the airport by the N.L.C. member responsible for Trade, Finance and Economic Affairs, Colonel Afrifa, and the Chairman of the Economic Committee of the ???, Mr. Ommbo???. Speaking to newsmen, Dr. Shoib said it is the policy of the World Bank to continue to give more aid to developing countries. He gave the assurance that Ghana can continue to expect technical and financial assistance from the Bank. He said the Bank is aware of the problems facing Ghana and will continue to support her.
Dr. Shoib said it has always been the practice of the World Bank to co-operate as much as possible with such world bodies as the U.N. Economic Commission For Africa (ECA), the U.N. Development Bank and the African Development Bank in supporting developing countries.
