    Indian and senegal have signed a cultural exchange agreement for 1977 and 1978.

    SYNOPSIS: The agreement was signed at the Indian Education Ministry in New Delhi on Tuesday (14 September). It was signed by the Senegalese Ambassador to India, Dr. Babacor Diop, and the Additional Secretary of the Indian Department of Culture, Mr. B.N. Tandon. Also present were the Senegalese Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Ousmane Camara, and the Indian Education Minister, Professor Nurul Husan. The programme for cultural and educational exchanges is part of an agreement on cultural co-operation between the two countries that was signed in May, 1974.

    The programme will provide co-operation between the countries and educational institutions and the exchange of personnel in the field of fundamental sciences, technical education, social sciences, humanities, art, culture, and literature. Both sides with also explore the possibilities of exchange of experience in the fields of rural co-operation, mobilisation on youth for development programmes, promotion of women's education and child welfare
    India will offer scholarships to Senegalese students for graduate and post-graduate research studies. Both sides will also organise in each other's country a cultural week including dance, theatre, film festivals, exhibitions of art, handicrafts, books and photographs.
